The role of self-regulated learning on foreign vocabulary learning: a multi-case study

In recent years, a considerable body of empirical research has acknowledged the role self-regulated learning (henceforth SRL) in domain English as foreign language (EFL). However, study investigating and mechanism SRL vocabulary is still scarcity particularly Indonesian contexts. To address this noticeable gap, multi-case aims to explore on strategies use from experience undergraduate EFL learners. After signing informed consent form sheets, two students different countries (Indonesia Egypt) voluntarily participate study. By employing series semi-structured interviews conducting narrative thematic analysis (Braun Clarke, 2006), findings showcase that both participants employ myriad such rehearsal, elaboration, social strategy. Additionally, evidence indicates they have higher level motivation persistence maintain vocabulary-learning activity. The suggest important practical implications for teachers, learners, institution. This article also discusses limitations recommendations.
